Exhibition
The Exhibition:
• At the end of each Basic Course we celebrate the end of the course through an informal exhibition.
• The best work of each student is selected for the exhibition opening.
• This is a fun evening where snacks & drinks are served, our students share on some of their photographs & certificates are handed out.
• The exhibition runs for one night only from 19H00 - 21H00 at The Planet Art, 32 Jamieson Street.
• Each student get to take their exhibition prints home at the end of the evening.
Costs 2012:
• R2600.00 (Includes: Tuition, Lecture notes, Exhibition, 2 x Exhibition prints & Refreshments)
• Film, developing and CD costs to be covered by students.
• R1000.00 non-refundable deposit secures booking (balance of fee payable on commencement of course).

Requirements:
• Digital camera with manual override function
• A tripod is suggested additional equipment.
• Students are expected to complete various practical projects in their own time.

Course content:
Theory:
• Visual literacy - composition, framing, and history of photography.
What makes a good photograph and how to take better photographs.
• Camera anatomy and lenses - detailed instruction on all the functions of the camera,
and how different lenses can be used for different effects.
• Exposure, aperture and shutter speed (how shutter speed affects photographing moving subjects).
• Depth of field - area of focus through the photograph.
• Flash on camera & Light painting (long exposures) - practical lightpainting class
• Digital photography - RAW vs. Jpg, sensor sizes, digital cropping, pixel counts, adv. & disadv. of digital
• Assessment session - projects are assessed at the end of each class with constructive feedback
Practical Workshops:
• Technical Workshop Experimenting with apertures, shutter speeds & their effects.
• Landscape Kalk Bay Picture Journey
• Food Shoot Using natural light and reflectors for a still life & food shoot. (±1 hour)
• Food for the foodshoot will be provided by Fast Forward
• The Portrait / Fashion shoot will introduce the use of reflectors shooting a portrait, as well as mixing flash lighting (pop-up / external speedlight) with available light. (±1 hour)
• Practical assessment sessions will be done during class-time.
• Professional models for the portrait / fashion shoot will be provided by Ice Model Management .
